If you want to be sure that your research results are valid, reliable, and robust, try using more than one data collection method. Every data collection method (data mining, surveys, focus groups, etc.) has inherent strengths and weaknesses. Therefore, if you get similar results using different data collection methods, you can have greater confidence in the results than you could if a single data collection method was used. Using more than one data collection method to investigate the same issue can also help highlight nuances of the issue that might not be noticed using a single method.
